Cornucopia / Pornucopia is an evolving tabletop sculpture designed to shift with the desires of its owner, an ornamental object that refuses to remain fixed.
Drawing on the historic cornucopia at Sir John Soane’s Museum and the interchangeable narrative carvings at Two Temple Place, the work reimagines allegorical ornament as something fluid, responsive, and open to reinterpretation.
Traditionally a symbol of abundance, the cornucopia is here unsettled. Its contents are no longer static, but interchangeable, shifting between two distinct arrangements: innocent and erotic. Fruit becomes a coded language, oscillating between decorum and desire, symbolism and provocation.
By placing control in the hands of the owner, the work blurs authorship and intention, inviting a continual renegotiation of meaning, taste, and display.
An object of excess, restraint, and choice.
